After a few nice GWs to start the season, we got an absolute Fantasy Classic this week, where the points felt super hard to come by. But despite what was a low GW average score, we did see plenty of returns from the usual suspects being talked about so far! Salah, Raphinha, Jota, Sarr, Smith-Rowe, Saka, Gallagher, Zaha, Gray, Dacoure, Antonio, St Max.

So, there were plenty of points about, just not a lot of Clean Sheets to prop up the attacking returns to give us all some high scoring weeks.

We’ve also seen a few more flags added, Shaw, Trent. But it looks like we have the answer (for now), to a key question. Bruno is on Pens…. Not Ronaldo… Bruno also DOES miss penalties. Wowowowow!

And now, it’s finally here, the Chelsea fixture swing we’ve ALL been waiting for. The next 3-4 weeks are key gameweeks, with another international window to navigate, squad rotation and more potential flags, squads could get a bit thin. Advantage for having a deep bench perhaps.

All three teams performed quite similar in terms of score despite some major differences across them all. Despite scoring relatively lower compared to previous weeks all made some improvements up the leader board. Although we’re still VERY far away from seeing any cash return at the moment.

What can you say, the back four (and Dennis) absolutely destroyed us. We waited so so long for that Jota return only for it to be undermined with poor returns elsewhere. Add on top of that a Ronaldo blank… he should have been on pens! We needed a hero… a hero we didn’t know we needed, a hero we didn’t deserve, that hero ladies and gentlemen… Jose Sa!

I’ve been pretty good with the Captaincy so far this season, another Salah return, means only 1 out of 6 gameweeks has resulted in a Captaincy blank. Edging closer to the top 5k, but probably looking the first -4 of the season having not been able to roll the transfers in the last two weeks with all the flags (thank you Leeds Utd).

The transfers in last week worked nicely, both Antonio and Sarr returning, and the Algorithm was a little unlucky with the Bruno pen miss. Toney benched again, Toney returning points again. The plan was to Wildcard into some Chelsea assets this week. I may hold off a week to give the Algorithm the chance to Wildcard into some nice City and Palace fixtures coming up. Small gains but after a difficult week, we take the small rise.

The Diff team wildcarded last week and just edged above the First XI and the Algo for the gameweek, but still in last place overall. The double Chelsea defence wasn’t to be, Cancelo continues to deliver the returns and then some exciting returns from the new guys on the block, Auba, St Max, Zaha and Vardy all debuting for the Diffs with some #pts. Vibes all round. Bring on GW7!

So the first hit of the season taken, despite recently wildcarding the injuries to the Leeds duo of Harrison and Bamford meant I hadn’t been able to roll a transfer for 2FTs planned for this week and there was absolutely no way I didn’t want to go through with the original plan.

Mount is hopefully returned to fitness to feature, triple Chelsea in time for the fixture swing, and I’ve gone from what seems to be the most nailed combination (cue rotation this week!).

I’ve picked up yet another flag for TAA, but with the international break around the corner no concern to offload him, with it looking hopeful he’ll be back in no time at all. Jota however is now a flight risk with the return of Frimino mid-week, who bagged a brace in about 25 minutes.

There is £5m in the bank on this team, so plenty of wiggle room.

Lukaku gets the armband with Salah up against City it’s the obvious choice and Lukaku leads in most of the Captiancy matrix models I’ve seen around.

The plan was to Wildcard this week. But with everyone else looking at Chelsea assets, maybe wise to avoid and the Algo takes advantage of Southampton upsetting everyone. I want to give it one more week to bring in some favourable fixtures for City and surprisingly Palace. I didn’t see enough to change. I still think this team can hit 60-70pts plus! One free transfer to play, however.

So, I needed a striker with Bamford out, and I referred to some FPL data sources for a “one week punt”. I landed on @AlgoAllstarsFPL team of the week and saw Chris Wood’s name, against Norwich. It seems like an absolute no brainer with Norwich being so bad. I then referred to Fantasy Football Hubs points prediction tool, and down in about 6th position there he was again! (I couldn’t afford to move to anyone higher up and we didn’t own them already).

Chris Wood. Captain.

The bench options with TAA out are concerning, and there is little in the kitty here. Wildcard next week, I promise… maybe.

Ok transfer first up.

Just didn’t like Pepe, the form of ESR and Saka are going to limit his minutes. Not enough people have jumped on the Gallagher bandwagon yet (I’m desperate to own him for the first XI, but Chelsea priority this week). He looked again fantastic against Brighton. The Diff team is definitely that now, rocking triple Palace.

I have shuffled the bench around, points monster Cancelo on the bench this week along with Van Dijk. The MCI v LPOOL game could be anything and I have a double Chelsea option and an ever-improving Arsenal defence option. I hedge that who I’ve picked out perform the bench.

Zaha takes the armband as Leicester still looking a bit lost at the back, but Guita benched with Vardy looking great value at present. A few weird combinations / decisions on this team this week, let’s see how it plays out!

  • Chelsea & Man City MUSTS at the back
  • Palace have some great assets this season
  • Target Norwich
  • Wolves & Arsenal to keep improving

I think that wraps us up ahead of GW7. Would love for the First XI to start flirting with the top 5k and into the money off the back of a Lukaku hattrick. We also need the Algo and Diff teams to move up into the Top 20K at least to show us some signs of significant progress ahead.
