Mike’s FanTeam Blog – GW9 – STUCK IN THE MUD…

My time management has gone out the window this week, with the real world being super busy. Unfortunately, this will be a bit of a “Light” (no graphics) blog this week.

In all honestly the season-long teams, despite all of them wildcarding in recent weeks feel a bit stuck, at least in terms of ranking. There doesn’t seem to be much progress either UP or DOWN the rankings.

The First XI dropped back to 13k with a very underwhelming 55.1. Dias, White, Mount all picking up 1 pointers, on top of blanks from Lukaku, Antonio & Benrahma, compounded by the no shows for Ruidger and Jota. It was only Salah’s captaincy haul that kept the score honest. Struggle is REAL.

The Algorithm flirted with breaking the 20K ranking falling just shy but a nice little increase from 24k to 21k. The defence really stood up with McCarthy, Azpi, TAA, Cancelo & Duffy all returning #pts backed up with the Salah captaincy topping up a solid 68.1. Can’t be grumbled at, maybe this is where we see a bit of a resurgence. Armstrong, Grealish and Zaha all ended up Missing In Action with the Brentford boys adding a few here and there.

Finally, the differential team, it couldn’t quite keep up with the Algo. Up to 23k with a 62.8 GW score and NO Salah was not too shabby, Mane captaincy continuing to pay off with Vardy and Auba’s form also keeping the team treading water. Rudiger, Zaha & Alonso also MIA here, wildcarding into playing benches has proved its worth this week.

So despite the stuck in the mud feeling the Algo & Diff team definitely felt like they moved in the right direction, so maybe the First XI (as it’s my serious team) bopping between 10-14k in recent weeks is taking the shine of some good work elsewhere.

GAMEWEEK 9 PREVIEW

FIRST XI:

1 FREE TRANSFER AVAILABLE

OUT > LUKAKU

IN > EDOUARD

OUT > JOTA

IN > HAVERTZ

A -4 hit taken on both the First XI & Algorithm teams, with the upside of Havertz proving strong even with the Algo following a tweak to his expected minutes he ended up in the team of the week this week with @AlgoAllstarsFPL https://twitter.com/AlgoAllstarsFPL/status/1451526218566803460/photo/1

Jota failing to impress in the First XI opens the midfield berth up for Kai and it’s funded by the change up top with Lukaku out, I’ve taken a swing at Edouard. His minutes have increased in recent weeks and that Newcastle team still must be targeted, Bruce or no Bruce. A tricky fixture follows vs City next week but the following two after look good for the Palace front man.

ALGO:

1 FREE TRANSFER AVAILABLE

OUT > LUKAKU

IN > VARDY

OUT > POGBA

IN > HAVERTZ

The Algo has sacrificed Pogba with some difficult fixtures in the next three for Utd, again Lukaku funds the move for Havertz, and the form man Jamie Vardy takes his place, it’s very out of character for the Algo to party, but there is a first time for everything.

DIFF

2 FREE TRANSFERS AVAILABLE

OUT > DENNIS

IN > TONEY

For the Diff team just a bit of housekeeping bringing in Toney for the upcoming Brentford fixture swing. With 2 FT bagged for next week, maybe time for the Diff team to attack some fixtures.

CAPTAINCY

FIRST XI – HAVERTZ

ALGORITHM – SALAH

DIFFERENTIAL – GALLAGHER

The teams have a really nice mix of options this week, i’m hoping the -4’s don’t hinder us too much. I really try to work with what I have on Fanteam as every point is so vital. Every manager is engaged in the game so the competition is tough. The aims for this week is for the First XI to get back to touching distance of the Top 10k and for one of the Algo & Diff teams to finally break into the Top 20k!

THIS WEEKS THOUGHTS

  • Be prepared for more rotation
  • No Bruce, same Newcastle
  • Vardy party to continue
  • Man Utd vs Liverpool should = GOALS!
