Steve’s Skyff GW6 update and GW7 plans….Transfer meltdown !!

Good evening everyone from a wet and windy NY , looking forward to a another weekend of football , and the added bonus of Ryder Cup golf , where I hope to be celebrating a European win with my American friends. Back to the football, and it was a fair to average week on the points front , but the injuries and no shows kept piling up, seriously worried I’ll need Ian Parrins planner abilities to extend out now to 2022 right now as I will not have any transfers left at this rate to make any moves !

First to my teams :

First Brit in NY , 114 points for the week , but major changes to the squad due to injuries all over the place. As I had discussed in my last post, Webster had to go, DCL also , my future plans had been to move DCL to Lukaku for GW8 and I had left £1.4 in the bank to cover this move , so it seemed sensible to bring this transfer forward , Webster I was not so keen on just moving to Duffy , and I’m not really convinced regards the Wolves defensive options, I decided I really wanted Gallagher for the coverage, midfielders I think this season are going to need to be set and forget with transfers used more for strikers and defensive options, Gallagher will come in with the odd bonus here and there , so at £7.3 i can just leave him in place for the season (as long as he doesn’t get injured !!). To achieve the move I needed to free up budget , with a Torres no show and KDB , Foden getting closer to full fitness I felt the Torres punt was a failure and I needed to reset my team quickly. So the moves completed were – Webster to White (arsenal coverage for future single game days saved a future transfer) , DCL to Lukaku which again was a forward planned transfer , Torres to Gallagher unplanned but released some much needed funds. Then came the news Pickford was also out and although he was a short term pick just until the last Everton single game day against Wolves it was not something I had wanted to do this soon, question was who to now, as the news of his injury came after game 1 on Saturday , it seemed an obvious move was to Mendy – I had funds from cashing in on Torres , and his a season keeper. Obviously we now know his out also , I will plan to still keep though irrespective, as long as the injury is not prolonged and hopefully his back in GW8 if not before. Matip was also a no show i did expect this though and will keep for the moment as I expect him to start Saturday, on the positive side it was good to see Christensen start and play ever so well , hopefully he retains his place. Friday Capt was Raphinha after much drama as to whether he will start or not who returned a healthy points tally, I was very close to removing him instead of Torres following Fridays game , but the fixtures just look so good for Leeds, and with less rotation than MCY i just have to hope Raphinha stays fit. The ever so reliable Salah was Saturdays captain and did not disappoint, then Ronaldo on Sunday who fell over more times than Jack Grealish but managed a good return also and seems like a SOT magnet !!! ‘White’ kept me a nice clean sheet and Benrahma with a rather lucky goal, all in all with all the drama’s and changes it could have been a lot worse. Looking ahead to this weekend , there is a more injury concerns as to whether Raphinha starts , so I will wait and see – if he is out then I may bring a Southampton body in for Sunday’s game in his place rather than have White as my only Captain choice , I had planned on maybe a move to Kane , thats on hold for now as his form (or more Spurs as a team form) is off , and Ronaldo i cannot remove at this point. However if Kane performs well on Sunday , that change may come in GW8.

Saturday Captain : Ronaldo / Salah

Sunday Captain : White

Monday Captain : Gallagher

Transfer left 36. Transfer planned. Maybe 1 depending on further Raphinha news

So now my ‘B’ team , which is really languishing behind right now , really is the Salah difference and captain choices, Bamford really did little on the Friday night game , for Saturday I had the armband on TAA – of course he got ill so no Captain at all , Sunday went against Ronaldo with Lukaku , who should have scored but kept on trying to set Werner up and we all know how that works out , so a pretty poor week for my B team only coming in with 57 points , however it really helps me with setting those captain picks as its taught me that you should really not go against the crowd right now as the most popular captain picks are really scoring. I had made one transfer moving out Jota (another failed experiment) for Bamford who I had planned on keeping for the Leeds fixture run , he will likely make way for Antonio now as his injury has been confirmed !! With the B team , I may look to move to a 5-3-2 and switch to defensive premiums to change it up a little, I will see how the next week or two goes.

Saturday Captain Ronaldo

Sunday Captain : JWP

Monday Captain : Duffy

This weekend and the European fixtures next week, I’ll be closely watching Chelsea defensive assets to try and assess where the starters will be for GW8 , I’ll also be on Kane watch as I’m sure most of us will be, and I’ll be hoping that I have no more injuries to contend with to mess up my future plans once again. Good luck everyone for the weekend , hopefully its a high scoring one for us all , please follow me where you can ask me any questions , I post regular Skyff updates and I will be sharing not only my progress on Skyff but also on SDT which I’m currently also loving , super addictive and is such great fun – still learning the tactics but the dream team tonic guys provide great content on there weekly podcast which has helped tremendously (thank you guys) .

Have a great weekend , COYI and C’mon Europe in the golf.

Be kind
